Tiba – tiba datanglah seekor Burung Merpati hinggap di ranting pohon dekat mereka, Ayahnya yang telah tua itu lalu menunjuk kearah Burung Merpati sambil bertanya,..?? ” Nak Burung apakah yang ada di ranting itu ? ”
” Burung Merpati Ayah ” Jawab Si Anak, Ayahnya lalu mengangguk-angguk, namun beberapa menit kemudian Ayahnya kembali mengulangi pertanyaan yang sama, karena Si Anak menyangka Ayahnya kurang mendengar atas jawabannya tadi, lalu Si Anak menjawab dengan nada sedikit kuat ” Itu Burung Merpati Ayah ” tetapi selang waktu kemudian Ayahnya bertanya kembali dengan pertanyaan yang sama. Si Anak merasa bingung dan kesal dengan pertanyaan Ayahnya yang berulang – ulang, lalu Anaknya menjawab dengan Nada yang lebih tinggi lagi ” Itu Burung Merpati Ayah ”. Ayahnya yang telah tua itu terdiam seketika, namun tidak lama kemudian sekali lagi Ayahnya mengajukan pertanyaan yang sama hingga membuat Si Anak hilang kesabaran dan menjawab dengan Nada yang semakin tinggi, ” Itu Merpati Ayah ”.
Dan kembali Anaknya di kejutkan oleh Ayahnya dengan mengulang pertanyaan yang sama, dan kali ini Si Anak benar – benar hilang kesabarannya dan menjadi marah, ” Ayah ” Saya tidak tahu Ayah paham atau tidak, tapi sudah 5 kali Ayah bertanya dengan pertanyaan yang sama dan Saya sudah menjawabnya dengan jawaban yang sama pula, Apalagi yang Ayah mau saya katakan ???!!! ” Itu Burung Merpati, Burung Merpati Ayah…. ” jawab Si Anak dengan begitu marah.
Si Ayah yang telah tua itu lalu berdiri menuju kedalam rumah meninggalkan Anaknya yang membuat Anaknya menjadi bingung, Sesaat kemudian Ayahnya keluar dengan membawa sesuatu di tangannya.
Dia mengulurkan benda itu yang ternyata sebuah diary lama, lalu diberikan deary tersebut kepada Anaknya,” Coba kau baca apa yang pernah Ayah tulis di dalam diary ini ” pinta Ayahnya.
Si Anak lalu mengambilnya dan membacanya paragraf demi paragraf yang isinya ” Hari ini Aku dihalaman depan melayani Anakku yang genap berusia Enam Tahun, tiba – tiba beberapa Burung Merpati hinggap di pohon ranting yang saling berhamburan, Anakku terus menunjuk dan menanyakan ” Burung Apakah itu Ayah ? ”.
Dan Aku menjawab ” Burung Merpati ”, walaupun begitu Annakku terus bertanya dengan pertanyaan yang sama dan Akupun menjawabnya dengan pertanyaan yang sama hingga 20 kali, dan demi rasa Cinta dan Sayangku terhadapnya , Aku terus menjawab untuk memenuhi rasa keingintahuannya, ” Aku berharap hal ini menjadi suatu pendidikan yang berharga untuk Anakku kelak.”
Setelah selesai membaca paragraf tersebut Si Anak mengangkat muka dan memandang wajah Ayahnya yang telah tua itu, lalu Ayahnya dengan suara perlahan dan lirih berkata, “ Hari ini Ayah baru bertanya kepadaMu dengan pertanyaan yang sama sebanyak 5 kali saja, Kau sudah marah dan tidak sabar ”.
Lalu Si Anak seketika juga menangis dan bersimpuh di kedua kaki Ayahnya yang telah tua itu dan memohon ampun atas apa yang telah di perbuat.
